The "Leaning" Tower of Pisa's by gurneyp

Pisa - Italy, Toscana The tower currently leans at 5.6 degrees. Another 1.4 degrees will be enough to bring 14,000 tons of intricately carved white marble crashing to the ground. This won't happen for another 100 years or so.

There was a tower. It was meant to be straight. It had a fault so it started to lean. As such it was interesting - I enjoyed going to the top in 1976. Then it leaned more and became unsafe. At this point there were two architecturally sane courses of action - to destroy it or straighten it. So what did they do?
