5 – The Lovers of Teruel's by jorgesanchez

Teruel - Spain (Los Amantes de Teruel). These tiles represent the legend (many historians say that it is a historical fact based on some documents found recently) about the love that felt Isabel and Juan for each other in the XIII century. Isabel was rich and Juan was poor, because of that Isabel parents did not accept Juan, but gave him 5 years time to find riches. Then Juan went to the war and after 5 years he became rich. But he reached Teruel 5 years and one day. Not having received news from Juan, the previous day Isabel parents married her with don Pedro, an old but rich man. That was a shock for Juan. During the night he asked a kiss to Isabel but, in spite of her feelings for him, she could not deceive her husband. Then Juan died. During the funerals, a young lady dressed in black approached Juan dead body and kissed his lips. She was Isabel. Suddenly she fell down of emotion and died. Today they are buried together.
