San Diego - United States, California This was the first mission erected in USA California, by Fray Junipero Serra, born in Mallorca Island, Spain (there are many other missions in Baja California, Mexico). It is considered the Mother of the Missions. It is my dream to go back to the States in the future to visit, as a pilgrim, on foot, all the 21 Spanish Missions California. All these 21 missions should be included in the list of UNESCO. USA Government does not help financially for their restoration and preservation. Only the generosity of private benevolent people, who give money, plus the entry fees, helps to preserve in part the missions.
