Maya Ruins |

From Chiquimula, Guatemala, you can easily enter Honduras to visit the Copan Maya Ruins. Copan is near the border, with its pyramids, walls and stone heads.
What is interesting in Copan is the question: Why did the Maya people left this spectacular place? The same they did with Tikal and other enclaves that were abandoned without apparent reason.
According to a theory, the land was exhausted, the crops failed to grow, and the Mayans were forced to find new lands.
Tikal, I must confess, was my favourite archaeological Maya site, but the second, in my opinion, corresponds to Copan. In Copan I saw a statue that, according to the local people, has Asiatic features.
Also interesting are the Islas de la Bahia (Roatan, Utila, etc.), inhabited by the Indians and black people that the English brought there from San Vincent and other Caribbean islands as slaves to work in the sugar cane recollection, and they still preserve a sui generis English language.
