Nice shelter in the middle of a medieval citadel.
You can reach Saint Jean Pied de Port from Bayonne, in France, by a lovely mini train. Some Spanish pilgrims first go to Roncesvalles and from there share the expenses of a taxi to start the pilgrimage crossing the Pyrenees.
One of the annoyances of this shelter is the nasty tourists with their videos and photo cameras! They enter the shelter and take pictures of the pilgrims, as if they were animals in a zoological park.
Another inconvenience is that they charge money to have the Credencial del Peregrino, while in Spain is for free.
