When navigating is cheaper than a hotel |

Life in Finland is expensive and the hotels too. If you happen to travel in this country on a budget and snowing, as I did, then do not spend money in hotels and take a nightly ferry to anywhere! You will arrive to your destination in the morning and it will only cost you a handful of euros. You will enjoy tax free shops, casino, and even disco before sleeping in a room with plenty of empty seats.
From Turku to Stockholm you can stop for a day in pleasant Aland archipelago.
In Aland speak Swedish instead of Finnish, although they use the euro currency. They have a special status, an own flag, they issue their own stamps, although politically are administrated by Finland.
Just in front of the port there is a casino and shops, and going up to the main town, Maarianhamina, there is nice maritime museum.
In Finnish, Aland Islands are called Ahvenanmaa, and consist in an archipelago of about 5500 small islands that you cross when going to Stockholm from Turku or vice versa.
