The Valley of Fire is a Nevada State Park, located about 60 miles northeast of Las Vegas. The valley is a unique geological formation. The brick red sandstone rocks rise out of the surrounding desert.
Centuries of wind and water have eroded the rocks into fantastic shapes, arches, and narrow valleys. There are miles of trails, leading back into the remote areas of the park. Spring and Autumn are the best time to visit the park, because the Summer temperatures are extreamly hot.
There is a wide variety of desert plants, reptiles, small animals, and ancient Indian petroglyphs. It is an easy day-trip from Las Vegas, and a welcome escape from the razzle-dazzle of the Vegas casinos.
