Akaroa on the French Bay is a little town of 650 inhabitants.
In winter is desert but in summer it's overpopulated.
We are lucky to be in winter, it's so quiet and beautifull.
Many cottages have french name, because in 1838 Jean Langlois, french captain, bought 30 000 acres to Maoris, he returned in France, founded a compagnie to colonized New Zealand, and when he returned with 57 migrants, he learned the Waitangi treaty with Britanic souvereignty.
The French stayed there.
