Fatehpur Sikri - India This is a marvellous place that was abandoned shortly have being erected owing to lack of water supply. A wonderful example of mughal architecture.

Everywhere in Fatehpur Sikri, you can observe the influence of his thoughts on the architecture - a blend of Mughal and Rajput styles. Yes I also read about it being abandoned later due to water shortage. Surprising isn't it, how such a grand scale construction was taken up with this oversight :-)
