The original castle was built in the late 1500s but was destroyed by the atomic bomb; now rebuilt (1957) with concrete it still is a majestic building to see. As most buildings only date back 60 years or so, this has a nice traditional feel and now houses a small museum. It costs ¥320 entrance fee and has a collection of weapons and armoury, facts and figures of Hiroshima, how the castle defences worked and an observation platform. As there is little to see in Hiroshima this is a must.
