Hermanus is renowned for whale watching however all along the False Bay coastline whales can be seen (no more than 20 metres of the coast). While spotting 6 whales a passer-by said she had just paid $100 to go whale watching off the coast and should have just come here and seen it for free. It was very exhilarating viewing this sceptical.
