Solitaire is a small sleepy settlement, that is true to it’s name sake. Stuck in the middle of the Namib desert, it is used as a stopover en route to Sossusvlei. There is only one shop, a restaurant/bar and a petrol station. The convenience store has wonderful apple pie; that alone makes the journey worthwhile; they also sell books about the area as well as a few local souvenirs. [edit text]  [editors]
