Enspired by Lisas Report and other rental car experiences I see at GLOBO now and again that the subject comes up. See

Quote: "DC was wonderful...we had a great time, except for Budget Rental Cars... We were given a dirty car with dents that smelled horrible. The dents were noted with small red stickers which would indicate that the counter was aware of the damage, yet after we returned the car the manager claimed that we damaged the car and tried to bully us into signing a fraudlent accident report. When we refused they put a $500.00 charge on the card used to secure the rental. The customer service department has been no help at all and we have had to complete paperwork to dispute the charge through our bank..." [NB: Personal names should not be mentioned!]
I often use Budget(and the others) and have good memories about them and there services. I ask in the above case why the car was accepted in the first place. If by collection of a car (assumingly) in the condition it was, I would in that case have immediately demanded an exchange BEFORE I drive away, its the clients right and privelage! Similar, I once got a car with a small defect and they did not only change the vehicle immediately but upgraded the class without extra cost to me, as an apology!
My bad experiences:
1) Arriving in the USA once, I was not given the promised rate agreed in Europe because I could not give the required reservation code or documentation. Even though my name was proberly in their databank, that didnt help. My fault!
2) I left my cellphone in a returned car. Even a day later nobody could find it. It was worth $800 to me those days, no insurance!
3) I crashed a rented car once. That was a bad experience, but the paperwork and paying only the first $200 of the damage was acceptable :-) [ This Message was edited by: rangutan on 2005-06-25 11:44 ] --- Rudolf "Rangutan" Graspointner
