These top three visits relate to England and not Great Britain
1/ Miss out London and fly direct to a regional airport. e.g. Birmingham, Manchester Newcastle and rent a self drive car.
2/ Using the Good Pub Guide (http://www.goodguides.co.uk/) drive through rural England staying and eating in our better pubs. That way you meet real people, see idyllic green countryside, discover loads of local traditions and cut down on costs too.
3/ Now, my top three areas or places to visit:- The Cotswolds, (www.the-cotswolds.org) Northumbria and the N.E.coast (www.visitnorthumbria.com) Forest of Bowland (http://www.forestofbowland.com/)
--- Cheers!

I'm completely torn which country to use, firstly I will start with Trinidad
1. Carnival - the two days before Ash Wednesday, its comparative to Rio and is a fabulous splash of colour, music and total enjoyment.
2. Maracus Bay, its the place to be seen and a perfect example of ideallic Caribbean lifestyle.
3. Pitch Lakes, a natural lake where tar oozes from the ground or Caroni swamp - seeing the scarlet ibis return home to roost at sunset, its a perfect ending to perfect days.
Tobago
1. The coral reef, nature at its best.
2. the rainforest, the oldes in the Western Hemisphere
3. Pirate's Bay, a great hideaway.

1 - Tower of London and the crown jewels,
2 - The London Eye, for great views of London
3 - Shaftsbury Ave, for any theatre production or a sporting event Rugby, Football or Tennis. --- "So many places, so little time" ((*_*))

Although the UK seems disproportionately mentioned here, that's where I live - I'll compensate by putting England, Wales and Scotland separately!
England: I totally agree with Brit on how to do it - but don't be put off if you can't hire a car.
1. Yorkshire Dales
2. Devon
3. Beverley - a bit way out and hence absurdly neglected.
Scotland
1. Torridon Highlands
2. Black Cuillin of Skye
3=. Glencoe
3=. Edinburgh
Wales
1. Glyders and Tryfan [Snowdonia]
2. St. David's and area [Pembs. Coast. Nat. Park
3. Porthmadog to Ffestiniog railway.
Cheers, David
