Urubamba is one of the villages in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Unlike some, it has no remains of its own but is notable as the place where two roads from Cusco meet, one having come past the remains of Sachsaywa an, Quenco, Puca Pucara, Tamba Machay and Pisaq; the other goes via Chinchero and has a superlative view point over the glaciers of high Andes.

There is an excellent restaurant which is not on a travel tip because I've forgotten its name. It should be easy enough to find, though. If you are travelling from Ollentaytambo up the Sacred Valley, pass the main part of Urubamba to your left and shortly after this you will see a pleasant modern restaurant near the main road, also on your left.
