Always mentioned with the best restaurants in the touristic region of Cappadocia, Somine delivers at modest prices. The name derives from the French word for fireplace and the interior is dominated by a large carved example. The location is the large plaza at the center of town. Tablecloth service with competent and attentive uniformed waiters, an extensive menu, and outdoor dining on the plaza in appropriate weather are a real draw. The house specialty is kiremits, meals baked in clay pots, but the menu ranges from omelets through manti, kafte, lamb and chicken dishes, kebabs, and salads. International offerings include chicken schnitzel and kiev. The most expensive items are 20 ytl or less and a couple can eat very well here for less than 40$US.
