Hi,
I think that groups are a great idea for Globo.
Having said that, I must say I do have one small issue.
Erm... I don't know how to say this without seeming to be erm... difficult, but I have recieved about 15 e-mails today that really don't erm... interest me from Globo. This is of course automated and has no intent behind it other than to keep one informed, erm... however, I rather wouldn't recieve quite so many info's.
Thanks. --- Best Regards, Mike Bruin

Hello Mike,
thank you for your note. I see your point regarding the e-mails. Did you know that you can change your preferences? Go to the group where you are receiving the e-mails and then click on settings. There is a notification option which you can uncheck. That will solve the problem. Of course then you will not receive any e-mails regarding new topics or replies or new group members. I don't see a solution right now on how to get a middle way. Maybe just send an e-mail once per day per group that has received changes? But then you do not have a direct link to the topic. Hmmm... any ideas?
Best regards,

Hi there,
I think the Groups are a great idea. They should keep the Q&As and fora focused. As for a regular member of a group, having an email every time someone posts a question, etc can be a bit too much - I think having a summary email on a weekly basis should not be too much. For moderators, an more frequent email may make more sense - and I can see this can be controlled in the settings.
Also, is there a way to see Group stats or history for the moderators? I guess this is nice to have and not must to have, though.
Thanks for the groups again!
Kind regards

I do have the same problems.
In Yahoo Groups you can either have:
Individual email (where you get an email with the new content)
Daily digest (where you get a daily overview of the new content)
Special Notice (only special information)
Web only (no email notification)
For the moment the only thing I can do is select the notification for every group so I have to do some work and everything is set.
It's a chore that has to be done.
Any other ideas?

Hi everybody,
thank you again for the suggestions. I have a solution ready which will allow you to get a summary of the changes in one e-mail. You will also be able to specify when you would like to be notified. Once per day, week, month. As this is a bit more complex I would prefer to install the new feature by tomorrow morning. I keep you informed as soon as it will be live.
Best regards,
Andy

OK... here we go :-)
There is a new setting available inside the groups:
Deliver this notifications...
immediately
once per day
once per week
once per month
Default is "once per week". The system will automatically aggregate all changes and summarize them inside one e-mail if you choose not to have them sent immediately.
Best regards,
andy
