“Your travel map” (Currently linked to reports/articles)
Is it possible to have this map linked to the Gallery as well as, or instead of the Report/Article section? Most members have posted more photo’s of the countries that they have visited, as opposed to reports submitted on countries?
(1) What are the views of members?
and
(2) Most importantly, Andreas view? He knows whether this is technically possible and feasible. [ This Message was edited by: britman on 2004-06-26 13:37 ] --- Cheers!

I've often thought the same thing. I think it just comes down to the fact that it's deeply satisfying to see maps with all of the places you've been, and it's much easier to upload pics of everywhere than to write reports- although I would still strive to write the reports just because it's helpful both to me and to the other members.
If it's possible to hook up the map to the galleries in addition to the reports, it would be great. --- "Seek to live. Remembrance is for the old." -Paulo Coelho

I, for one, think that's a tremendous idea! It would much for accurately describe where I have been, and encourage me to post an even more diverse range of photos, as well as writing the reports. The map should accurately reflect the range of a person's travels, not just where they have found the time to write about.

I myself, when I'm looking for information, I'll read the article. When one is reading for hotel, restaurant and tourist attractions, we'd like to know where it is situated in regards to the other attractions.

Hi staff and members,
How about a map which shows neon orange for any contribution; pictures, reports OR even tips (that should be easy to program), or more complicated:
- dark blue where one lives
- neon yellow for pictures and/or tips
- neon green for reports
- neon orange for both
- oceans and lakes a very light blue
- a flashing green and white for the next countries on ones wish list (say maximum 5)
The map should then be moved from "Reports" to under "Activities", or a seperate map for pictures, reports and tips?
The map needs to be revised, it is missing Antarctica and some very large countries like Russia, China and Brazil should be divided into their states/provinces (not very urgent, neither important).
I am very lazy writter and some members find it difficult to write reports on all visited locations in english. One cannot then call the map ones "travel map" if it is uncomplete!!!
Oherwise, I will be very happy if just the title of the current map could be changed to "Map of Reports written".

(Visited 55 countries and 6 dependancies, my map still only shows 29. Some members over 100!) [ This Message was edited by: rangutan on 2007-04-24 13:14 ] --- Rudolf "Rangutan" Graspointner

This is a good suggestion made by Rudi. I have longed for a map that reflects a lot more than the reports I write. It would be great for each member's contribution - report, pictures, tips to be depicted on a colour coordinated map.
