Little welcoming town

We had made arrangements for a hotel in Venice, but when we got there, the woman atthe train information booth gave us the direction for Quarto D'Altino. We hadnt hadn't found the name of this town on any of our maps (we discovered they weren't very detailed)So we had believe that it was a suburb of Venice, to our mistake. We hopped on the train again, and after a few minutes we stopped at a tiny train station welcoming us to the town. The town was very quiet. And I doubted that our hotel was here, but after having directions from the man inside the train station. We realized that we were in the right town. Bird sang, and our rolling carryon suitcases echoed in the quiet area. We walked, a little awed at finding ourselves in the middle of nowhere, to the street light we turned left and at the end of that little street, our hotel appeared. Large and modern. It was quite a shock.

Favourite spots:
There's not much to do in here. We found out that the only reason there is such a large hotel here, is because it is close to the international airport and that the airline crews stay there. Situated only about 15 minutes, by train, from Venice's main island, it was easy and affordable to travel daily to and from the numerous islands. We did keep a close watch on the train schedule though, as there aren't many trains going in that direction.

What's really great:
The town didn't have any museums nor any sights. We found that there had been a festival a few weeks before but that we had missed it. There is a bank with an ATM machine close to the hotel. Also we found a grocery store, a pizza parlour, a bakery and an ice cream shop.

Accommodations:
The hotel was at an affordable price. We had complimentary breakfast. There were no
laundry facilities in this town at all, nor was there any arrangements to be done with the
hotel. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Not much of a view though. See the listing
in my guide.

Other recommendations:
There wasn't much to do, but it was quiet and friendly. And after spending hours in
Venice it was a good place to rest. Perhaps if I'm there on a visit in the future, I'll try to set up my schedule for their festival, as in the
brochure it indicated wine and beer tasting, and glass blowing which should be quite
interesting.

I like your adventure! This sometimes happened to us as well but I never thought of writing about it. May be I will.
