Interesting! Looks like the Vialta is more expensive up-front, but stands alone, and the Ceiva is initially cheaper, but requires a monthy subscription fee (which will add up over time, and could easily end up costing you more... also, beware of getting new technology that requires this sort of support -- if the company goes out of business, you've just got yourself a $125 paperweight).
Personally, I'd save your money, and get yourself a decent laptop (I'm partial to the Apple 12" powerbook). That way, you get something that can display your photos & slideshows, plus a whole lot more. With Apple, you can also easily make iMovies with your photos, zooming in and out, blending transitions and scoring to music, very dynamic!
