It' s a hilarious book. And travelling through Russia during WWI: Monika Czernin, Ich habe zu kurz gelebt, Die Geschichte der Nora Gräfin Kinsky, I don't know whether it is translated into English. It gives a vivd picture of the changes of the old Russian Empire by the revolution.
