Hi everybody,
as I saw we do have loads of great new reports on GLOBO and a lot more excellent pictures. That is truely fantastic for me to see such quality work on GLOBO.
There is one thing I would like to ask you guys for. It is about rating other members content. The taste or the criterias one uses for his/her ratings is almost never the same as another one will have. There are different tastes, cultural differences and more variables which differ from person to person. That is why we do have the average rating system in place. The overall rating is the average of all ratings given.
If I do read a report and I do think that this is a two star report, I will have no fear to rate it with two stars despite the fact that others will have given 5 stars. And visa versa. There is no reason to be offended because someone does obviously not think that your work is worth the same as you do think. As long as the critic is contructive. If we start to become to sensitive about this, than nobody will rate a report unless he gives it the highest rating, just not to offend the person. This is not what ratings are all about. So, keep cool boys and girls. Publishing, rating and everything on GLOBO is fun and should remain fun. Don't get to picky about your received ratings. Afterall it's only about having fun and a bit competition but not so serious that you should get distructed by lower ratings.
Enjoy live and GLOBO and don't get to serious at it. Real live does have enough obsticles to deal with, that we really do not need them to be on GLOBO.
Have fun,
Andy

I agree with this totally. Well put, Andy. Sometimes intensity can detract from enjoyment and we shouldn't let it.

Members please rate/comment pictures and reports according to basic GLOBO guidlines and with international values. Do NOT get upset if at first results are not that which you expect. That doensn't happen in life anyway, time always tells. I see ratings drop and rise amazingly until they reach a certain correct place they are worthy about a YEAR after they are posted. I suspect some members are either very sensitive or very impatient!
We may all add/subtract 1 or maximum 2 stars often according to feeling, mood, contact, weather, style or whatever. If anyone wants a very detailed rating of their report or picture [a honest and official view] they may ask me or most the pioneer or currently hyperactive members for that or assitance or advice in anyway always.
We are a community of friends, not an institution of lawmakers!
The new option to comment on each individual travel photos individually is new and unique world-wide. I like it! If this is abused or midsused though, the feature may be removed! Let us watch our words and stay positive.... R'Rudi [ This Message was edited by: rangutan on 2006-01-18 19:45 ] --- Rudolf "Rangutan" Graspointner

I believe that Andy'snote on this is the perfect answer and that we should now get on with the fun of life leaving all finely detailed analytical examination of rating systems in that great virtual world of the past to where as far as i know it is still impossible to travel.
(Looking at the length of that sentence i immediately apologise to David for abuse of the English language)

I forgive you. What do I get for that?
