Hello fellow GLOBO members,
I am a bit surprised that nobody did so far submit a valid entry for participating on our publishing contest. Britman did publish a wonderful report on Chang Mai which is inside a mountain region, but this does unfortunatelly not qualify for the contest as the rules show clearly here:
http://www.globosapiens.net/win-publishing-contest.html
On the right side of the page with the details you can see which reports have qualified so far for the contest. The system takes all reports which are published on a mountain name including a picture in the first 2 paragraphs and are submited after Dezember 15th. So far there are no entries.
Come on guys what am I gonna do with the nice backpack?! :-) It is waiting for the winner!!
Regards,
Andy

Hi Andy
I did think about joining the contest but don't have a good topic yet. There are hundreds of mountains where I live to write about but I haven't decided yet about which one I'd like to create a report. I should do them all.... Anyway there's so much work at the moment that I don't really have the time to go out take pictures and create a nice report, furthermore the weather isn't that inviting to do so right now.
I might add a nice report about a high mountain in March after coming back from my trip, but it will be out of your time frame...
Anyway stay safe and a verry happy christmas to everybody!
Martin --- Today is the first day of the rest of your life, enjoy it!

Gloria, the database is built into the current upload system. We can now upload pictures and reports using a mountain name instead of a city/town name. Just click on the usual menu "Upload" on the left-side bar and enter the name of the mountain. See also the Forum: www.globosapiens.net/topic-huge-mountain-database-upgrade_29_1347_0000.html
I hope to submit at least three reports before 15.01.2005, also considering "Sugar Loaf" (Pau de Sucre) and "Table Mountain" at a later stage.
I think the due date should be extended (if necessary) untill atleast 10 members submit Mountain Reports. --- Rudolf "Rangutan" Graspointner

Hi everybody,
I just saw that in the last days there have been lots of reports published. Today by nome new members. The bad news about this is that none of them is about a mountain. So far we do have 2 reports inside the contest and 7 days to go. Thats gonna be a difficult decission to make.
Rangutan suggested to extend the due date till at least 10 reports are in. Unfortunatelly this is not inside the criteria and is a bit unfair to the 2 publishers who are inside the deadline. I do also not see a real reason why there will be more reports on mountains if the timeframe is bigger. There just seems not to be a lot demand in publishing mountain reports. What do you guys think?
Maybe this will different with parks, once the provincial park database is installed :-)

I think that most of our already uploaded pictures and reports include our mountain adventures filed under the nearest city and the use of the mountain database WILL become more popular with time and new travelling by members. Time for the contest running so quickly, I will try to get atleast two reports in. The mountain database is a fantastic achievement - so pleased to hear that national parks will follow, perhaps lakes, rivers and deserts too? The new options are wonderfull since the best of travelling is BETWEEN cities. --- Rudolf "Rangutan" Graspointner
