I made it. Door-to-door, over 36 hours. I am exhausted.
This place seems to be such a funky mix of Shaumburg suburban malls, Chicago skyscrapers and sand, sand, sand.
The view from my room looks out on the Burj al Arab, the world's first 7-star hotel, and a highlight of the Dubai skyline. It's 90 degrees and Africa-humid.

I am sitting in Milwaukee, eagerly looking forward to my next big adventure coming up in a couple of days - Dubai! It will be my first trip to the Middle East and I cannot wait.
I am doing my best to learn some Arabic and try to understand the script...I have managed to learn how to introduce myself and write my name. I can't wait to see the desert, to go scuba diving in the Persian Gulf, and visit some of the famous souqs. I'm staying with some friends from France and look forward to seeing them again after two years...especially to see how their son has grown!
