Hi, it's all about the adventure... ((*_*))

Well my trip is almost over and it has been incredible, this morning I arrived into Dubai for the second time and I'm being a bit cheap after blowing out on a 5* Diamond hotel in KLCC. I decided not to spend on an extra night accommodation so I'm checking emails until my room is ready. It is a small price to pay to save over 100 quid.

I'm yet to see the granduer that everyone always speaks of when refering to Dubai, so far it just seems like one building site. I was told that 70% (or some silly figure) of the world's cranes are in use in Dubai, I can well believe that.

But I must say all I seen are streets and streets of hotels, and apartment blocks.

As it happens I'm staying in an apartment block for the first time. And as I like to experience things, I'm quite kean to see what it is really like. I suppose if it is good I'll write a tip.
But fairly shortly I will be off to the beach well just after a spot of breakfast.

So much for going to the beach, once we got to the room plans quickly changed.

And there was only time to have a quick lie down, was and change and head out.

Dubai is definitely the playground of the rich and famous. So with that in mind we headed for tea at the Burj. We were jostling for pictures outside the gate and I thought, please I can enter this gate, I have reservation. So in we went - it was a great feeling.

Tea was described as the ultimate but all I can remember was that it was it cost a hell of a lot for a hell of a little bit food. Call me greedy but prefer not to be able to see through my salmon fillet and my sandwich must be bigger than a fifty pence piece. I compared on sandwich with the coin, and was about to take pictures when I was informed that I wasn't allowed to take any pictures. Why am I not surprised, that wouldn't want any evidence of the morsel that they were changing 375aed for...

I've always heard this expression when travelling to New York or America as a whole, but this is the first time I've really experienced the feeling. Nearly all my flights so far have been between 12.30am and 3.45am. This is a ridiculous time of the night to fly. You think this would mean getting to the destination at a reasonable time; but oh no, because of crossing the various time zone I still arrived between 1.30am and 7am. I suppose that is the difference of flying eastwardly than flying west!

					Mar 11, 2008 07:00 PM Let's go shopping

Well KLCC is an intricate network of shopping malls, linked across walkways, buildings and sometimes by streets. Nearly everything can be bought here. You start at one end of the street and before you know it, you're all the way across town and you haven't even gone outside. I jest, but it not too far from the truth.

Mar 10, 2008 07:00 PM My new favourite city

My, my, my, my, my; KLCC is an incredible city. From the minute I stepped into the city I just loved it.

I arrived really late and ended up missing the shuttle (monorail) to the arrivals hall, which meant that we missed the last train into the city centre. The transfer time is around 45 minutes. So ended up taking a taxi. I was very luck that the hotel allowed us to check in early, which was a result, the room was also upgraded. To be fair I didn't want the upgrade because I wanted to have views of the Petronas Towers. But I accepted the upgrade to a lovely park view suite. After having a quick nap, I got up sipped my tea and surveyed this wonderful view. I spent almost two hours just gazing out, it was very therapeutic. I then went up to the club lounge for the pictures I envisaged getting. This hotel is now my favourite hotel.

Mar 09, 2008 07:00 PM So what is there to do in this city?

I can't really say I was disappointed with the city. I didn't find as much to do as I would have hope. But it is amazing how we can waste time and just dose around a city.

I headed for Glodok in search of Cameras but was a little dissappointed. What I did find amusing was that we found a DVD workshop that produced hundreds and hundreds of fake cds and dvds. I saw a production line of young women just sitting and stuffing dvds into celophan bags. I wish I was brave enought to take a picture.

You see that is why I love traveling you just have the best experiences.

					Mar 08, 2008 07:00 PM Silly Blackberry

Woke up late as neither alarm went off - silly weekend setting - but it really didn't matter. Instead of breakfast we had brunch as food was included in the hotel rate. It was really nice a mixture of indo and international cuisine.

Ended up walking down to the National Monument; yet again people were staring; I don't know why my hair seems so fascinating. After the tower headed for the mall. Things are so cheap here, however the products are limited. Plaza Indonesia is a great mall. As it is built beneath the Hyatt Hotel and has three blocks.

Mar 07, 2008 07:00 PM One day in my life

Well I can honestly say this is the most I've flown in one day. Seven on hours from London to Dubai and then a further 8 hours to Jakarta, plus 1½ delay waiting for someone’s bags to be offloaded as the had checked in but must have either fallen asleep or was enjoying the shopping mall feel of Dubai Duty Free. Both of which shocked me, firstly seeing so many people sleeping on the floor in every corner and then the shopping mall; what an experience.

I felt a little let down by Emirates, I mean they got me there safely but with no thrills attached.

Once in Jakarta I had all the plans to head to Borobudur Temple and the volcano located close by but now I just can’t be bothered. Maybe on my next trip.

Checked into Alila and it was really pleasant and kind of minimalist – with wood decor – wooden floors no carpets. So far so good.

Finally got my self organised and pre-booked thee hotel; it was just as well we got in after 10pm.

Feb 29, 2008 07:00 PM Five Days and counting

Well the time is quickly approaching for few days away. I've just realised that I don't even know if I need visas for any of my stops, and I haven't even booked my hotels. It's going to be a busy week trying to wrap up all these little things.

Feb 17, 2008 07:00 PM Ok the decision has been made...

Well after a long deliberations, the decision ahs been made. I'm going to cram as much in as possible and see three countries in 10 days.

The winner are Malaysia, Indonesia and UAE.

Now to sort out the details.
