Mar 22, 2007 07:00 PM Heading for warmer climes

Heading for warmer climes The only problem is that God wasn’t listing – we arrived in Tunis and it was cccccold – I believe around 7 or 8 degrees. I needed my hat and gloves and guess what? I didn’t bring any. The rain kept on falling and I was so very miserable. But with good faith we decided to explore the Medina and Souq.

A very interesting city, and completely surprising to me; four facts I didn’t know:

More than half the population is under 18
99% of the population is Muslim
French is the second language
Tunisia lies just 50 miles of the coast of Sicily

Dec 31, 2006 07:00 PM Happy New Year

Happy New Year Another year has passed and a new one is just beginning. Two weeks in the sun is working out quite nicely. This is such a fantastic place to spend the vacation. My aim is to visit a beach that I’ve never been too, so I headed for Turtle Bay. But as I start the drive I see a sign to Fort Bennet so I made a diversion. The fort was erected in 1778 but now it’s just a lookout with a few old canons. Under the gazebo we listened to music, ate a packed lunch and chatted. It was perfect with no one else in sight, before heading of to Black Rock Bay for a swim. After getting our feet wet we headed for Stonehaven Bay and spent the rest of the afternoon lazing on my rubber ring.

Nov 15, 2006 07:00 PM A little bit of pampering

A little bit of pampering A mild November morn in Rothwell only an hour outside London is Rushton Hall, a building which dates back to the 1400s. It’s an impressive building and great for relaxing in. I had a wonderful dinner in their restaurant, especially when the brought out a cake, that was nearly completely empty, but it was a wonderful experience.

Oct 30, 2006 07:00 PM Pure Perfection

Pure Perfection I had a ‘moment’ today in the Okavango Delta ,
Of pure peace,
The mokoro moved through the water, in pure silence,
It parted the reeds and brushed the water lilies,
Of pure tranquillity.

I watched the elephants munch and the hippos swim, in pure delight,
I wanted to capture that moment and record it forever,
Of pure exhilaration,
And put it in a bottle to refresh my soul, in pure contentment.

Oct 09, 2006 02:00 PM Why do holidays have to end...

Why do holidays have to end... Five countries, twenty five days and Africa have been discovered. What a trip!

Back in London and the world seems so stationary. The feeling of waking up in a different village, town, or city. Now every day seems the same, oh how I wish I was back in the desert

Sep 30, 2006 02:00 PM Closed Cape Town...

Closed Cape Town... Who knew that Cape Town was all closed up on a Sunday. Nothing else to do but go to the beach and then craft market.

Sep 29, 2006 02:00 PM The drive down to Cape Point...

The drive down to Cape Point... I have to see some whales and penguins, that will complete my safari

Sep 28, 2006 02:00 PM Prisioner Cell Block H...

Prisioner Cell Block H... Oooh, clean white sheets, duvet, bed, television, remote control, heating, and hot bath. This is all that I missed while on my 19 day tour. I had so much fun but I was glad to spend the night in a hotel bed. The morning started with a hearty 3 course breakfast. It was the best breakfast I had ever had, what a hotel; it’s amazing how I didn’t even realise that I missed civilisation until I rejoined it.

I done some creative parking trying to get the Ferry to Robben Island.

Sep 27, 2006 02:00 PM Well it's all over...

Well it's all over... A small trip to the vibrant city of Johannesburg, and all I saw was the airport.

Sep 26, 2006 02:00 PM Let's go 50/50. I'm drowning...

Let's go 50/50. I'm drowning... A spot of white water rafting on the Zambezi and a little bit of Zim Zam is in order for today. I must say I’m a little afraid – a grade 5 river – the Mighty Zambezi. We walked across Zimbabwe, but it deserves another trip.
