Backstreet in Sibiu's by ulfpe

Sibiu - Romania, Sibiu Wealth always grows from the center, at least in former east block countries. It was actually a tradition even before the wall fell. Appearance was important. Anyway I am sort of grateful as I find the renovated center (only 100 m away in this case) rather boring. In the backstreets you can "see" history, the traces of humans for many many years. But I also realize that it might not be that fun to live in some of these houses.

Sibiu last year was European Capital of Culture, and during my stay there was clean and renovated. But it seems that only old town had luck to be renovated. horourke - Jul, 27 2008 05:07am I wonder if there are places in all our countries where people are disadvantaged and the trappings of wealth are absent. There are certainly such places in Ireland. I am not sure that the generalisation about appearances is any more valid in Romania than elsewhere.
