Travel guide to Meriden

West Main Street - with its quaint architecture that's reminiscent of an earlier century - is the very picture of New England. Lamp posts dot the edging of the brick sidewalks along shop fronts and the pace is slower in this section of the city. Conversely, Broad Street - the main thoroughfare - offers an abundance of high-profile shops and restaurants, running the length of Meriden to its neighboring community of Wallingford. The juncture of East Main Street and Broad Street offers an impressive grouping of monuments that have been dedicated to war heroes and other samaritans throughout history, as well as an antiquated cemetery which overlooks them. A unique blending of history and contemporary society, Meriden offers bustling streets and numerous retailers. Yet, when it's time for a parade to march through, everything comes to a standstill, roads are blockaded and the procession is bumped to the top of the prioty list.
