Musée Marmottan Monet |
|
|
Anyone staying in Paris who is interested in Impressionist piainting should visit this museum which has a superb collection of impressionist painitings. In particular it has a large collection of paintings by Monet, including "Impression Soleil Levant" (Impression sunsrise), the painting that gave the name to the impressionist school, and several of his waterlilly paintings. There are also paintings by other impressionists, including a collection of pictures by Berthe Morisot.
Its a little off the beaten track, near to the Bois de Boulogne, which means it tends to be less busy than the Impressionist section at the Gare d'Orsay. A real treat.
Nearest Metro station is Muette (Ligne 9 : Pont de Sèvres - Mairie de Montreuil), or take the RER to
Boulainvilliers (ligne C)
