Warsaw - Poland The Palace of Culture and Science (Polish: Pałac Kultury i Nauki, also abbreviated PKiN). The building was originally known as the Joseph Stalin Palace. Construction started in 1952 and lasted until 1955. A gift from the Soviet Union. The controversial building built during the Soviet occupation - but now it became the symbol of Warsaw.
