18 Day 4WD Tag Along Tour from Sydney to Alice Springs.
Well suited for 4WD novices.
This is NOT an extreme 4WD excursion but designed to give novices
and first time visitors to Australia an introduction to travelling in remote
areas and to the driving of a 4WD vehicle.
Provided that people express their interest early I will be able to assist with the hire of suitable 4WD vehicles.
4WD novices will be given amble time to familiarize themselves with their vehicle and opportunities to learn driving in difficult terrain.
The daily routes and destinations will be flexible to prevent any stress.
Where possible our camps will be bush camps and meals can be cooked on the camp fire.
We meet 2 days before the start of our trip in Sydney. This gives
those who need to pick up a hired vehicle time to pick up the car and
for the purchase of our supplies.

Days 1 - 3, Sydney to Broken Hill with a visit to the Mungo Lake Nat. Pk.
Days 4 & 5, Time in Broken Hill then to our bush camp at the ruins of Waukaringa,
an old Gold Mining town and along very isolated tracks to the Flinders Ranges.
Day 6, Flinders Ranges.
Days 7 & 8, Oodnadatta Track, William Creek, Coober Pedy.
Day 9, Coober Pedy and to Oodnadatta.
Day 10, Oodnadatta to Dalhousie Springs ( Simpson Desert).
Day 11, Dalhousie Springs to Chambers Pillar.
Day 12, Chambers Pillar to Ernest Gilles Road, bush camp at the Palmer River.
Day 13, Palmer River to Yulara.
Day 14, Uluru, Olgas.
Day 15, Olgas, to Kings Canyon.
Day 16, Kings Canyon to Palm Valley.
Day 17, Hermannsburg, Gosse Bluff, West MacDonnell Ranges.
Day 18, West MacDonnell Ranges to Alice Springs.
Total distance approx. 5500 km.
Please note that this tour is self catering, but 3 communal meals are provided.
This tour is also available in the reverse direction.

From Alice Springs the participants may wish to go north to Kakadu and Darwin,
south to Coober Pedy, Adelaide and on to Melbourne or Sydney and the more adventurous may decide to head west along the Gunbarrel Hwy. or the Tanami Road. I can assist with drawing up realistic itineraries for those routes.

The first of those 18 day Tag Along Tours is scheduled for late March, early April 2004.
It will be followed by a similar tour in the other direction, starting in Alice Springs and finishing in Sydney.
The exact dates will be advised.
It will not be a cheap tour with the most expensive component being the hire of a 4WD vehicle and the required fuel.
My charge for the 18 day Tag Along Tour is AU$ 1530.00 per car with two people, plus AU$ 420.00 per additional passenger.
The maximum is 4 people per car.
A 10% discount applies for Globosapians!
Cars from our preferred supplier will be accepted without further inspection.
All other cars, whether your own or hired from other suppliers will require a thorough inspection for their mechanical condition.

Expressions of interest are required before November 2003.
