I am planning a trip to Morocco around Christmas. Would 10-12 days be sufficient for a fairly in-depth appreciation of this land, including a night or two in the desert?

Hi Inzaghi!

Well, i think that 12 days could be enough for a nice first view of he country.

(Well, you know, 15 days is better, and 20 much better ... but...12 is ok.)

I only can recommend you to visit for example what i did.

I started at Tanger, coming from Spain.

Tanger to see the Medina, the Sultan Palace or the Hercules grotes.

Rabat and his Ambar Walls, the Mohamed V mausoleum, the Chellah Necropolis.

Casablanca and the Hasan II Mosque, the harbour and old city.

Marrakech: The Jemaa El Fna Place, the Medina, the zocos, the El Badii Palace, ...

Ouarzazate to visit the Atlas and the desert, near the Dra valley and entering at the big Sahara.

If you can visit Zagora o Erfoud are amazing.

Fez with the Merinides Necropolis, the Al Qaraouiyyin Mosque, the Royal Palace or the North Borj.

Meknes to visit the old Roman city and the Muley Idriss Tomb.

And i went back to Tanger.

At chirstmas expect from 7ºC at night to 20ºC during the day at the cities.

Enjoy Morocco is nice, i like specially the Sahara but everything is nice.

Bye.

Dani!

Hello

I agree with Dani - it could be enough for just the quick

look... If you will be well organized you will see more.

I suggest to rent a car - it will give you more flexibility

and you will save a lot of valuable time...

Happy jouney!

Wojtek

hello

I visited Tineghir there has Todra gorge. I recommend Todra gorge's great scenery. Tineghir is near Marrakech and you can go there directly by bus from Fes.

When you will be in Marrakech, my reccommendation is to stay one or a few nights in a Riad, in the medina (old city).

In order to "smell" the Moroccan way of life in the heart of the city!

For further question / comment / etc... on Riads, don't hesitate to contact me via my globo address.
