Advice bout buyin' a ticket from bangkok to england

Any advice about buying a plane ticket back to England from Bangkok would be just great. Planning on leaving Bangkok during first couple of weeks in December. Is it an option to just buy a ticket in the airport a couple weeks before? Any helpful or cheap travel agents in Bangkok who can sort out a flight? Any and all advice will be gratefully received.
