we are taking a trip to thailand, vietnam and cambodia. we have limited time, something like 28 days and theres a helluva lot that we wanna see. i figure with all the ruins we're seeing, we wont need to see both ayutthaya and sukothai...so it should be one or the other, right? which is better? i know ayutthaya is more important in terms of its history, but i'm really concerned with what is going to be the most beautiful, the most impressive, the most enjoyable, the most memorable...which is the better one? note that a trip to sukothai would include si satchanalai.

Hi Ian,

You really will be “templed out” after visiting Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia!! Of the two Thai venues, I personally prefer Ayutthaya; I was at Sukhothai and Ayutthaya earlier this year. Ayutthaya is nearer to Bangkok and cheaper to get to. Tuk-Tuks ( taxi) are the local form of transport and bartering is required before you jump on board – but they are fun and cheap – the driver will show you all the sights and wait hours for you for a few baht. You will be able to see the main sights and temples easily within one day.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

Brit
