Hello,

I get fed up with my buddy who kept asking me to go to Bintan Island - Indonesia with him. He said it is a very nice place. I am fed up with him. Anyone, please give me some advise whether to listen to his crap or not?? Anyone who has been there? is it really nice?

cheers..

Bintan is a very quick ride away from downtown Singapore and does offer a wide variety of sea sports. Accommodation packages are also not too expensive, which makes for a cheap and quickie break. Bali is certainly more luxurious than Bintan. Not much nightlife at Bintan, however.

One of the best stays at Bintan is the Manna Manna Guesthouse, which even has its own diving instructor if I remember correctly. If you are really on a tight budget, bring your own food and beverages. Meals can be quite costly on Bintan and the currency in use is the Singapore dollar and not the Indonesian rupiah. A simple dish of fried rice with satay can cost upwards of SGD15.00 (approx US$9) which is expensive by Singapore standards. BBQ dinner buffets cost upwards of SGD38. Nice to have a fresh coconut while you laze on the beaches.
