I have a short break next month and I am thinking of goiung back to Bali for a some R & R.

Has anyone been to Bali since the bombings in October? If so, I am just curious to know what the mood and the feel of the place is?

Thanks,

Kerrie

Hi,

I've got a friend who was in Bali during New Year time . Sha said that local s are very friendly and kind and helpful. There are not too much people, lots of availble rooms and everywhere big discount.

And everything is looked peacfull..

So, why not Bali??

Go, Kerry! Ironically, I think now is the best time to go. It's important to demonstrate our support for the people, their plight, and humanity in general.

Not to mention that it's a fantastic place with beautiful people that deserve so much more than this. Hey, you'll get great prices too! I would not hesitiate - I think it would be very safe - just that the tourism industry in general (dominated by the package trade) always takes time to recover from events like this - not always a realistic barometer.

Grab a flight, a credit card, an overnight bag, and go!

Well I just wanted to write and say thanks for the advice guys, but I have decided to stay home this time for my break. Mainly for the following reasons, I can't get a reasonable priced flight (it's unbelievable but true) but also because I don't feel like packing etc etc. So instead I am going to take the opportunity to go diving off Cook Island here on the Gold Coast, it's supposed to be fabulous, brush up on my golf game (it needs it) and generally relax and catch up with friends. But the main reason is I would rather use that money and take more time and head off somewhere for a month next year. More than likely back to Brasil.

Just by way of information my favourite Lodge at Amed offered a rate of $54US per night in an ocean front bungalow for a minimum 3 night stay normally $80US a night. Great value.

Cheers,

Kerrie
