Hi all

Am arriving in Koh Tao in mid November for a few weeks and wondered if I should go elsewhere.

Am aware it's the rainy season, but I wondered to what extent...I know there will be rain but will i be deluged every day or will the clouds clear and will i get any sun?

I know you can't predict the weather but wondered if anyone had been in Koh Tao in November and could give me an idea of what to expect?

Should I change my plans and head over to krabi/phuket/Phi Phi etc?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

James

Hi James,

The simple answer is YES! Avoid November because the monsoon normally brings lots of wind, rain and high choppy seas. I am at the moment opposite to Koh Tao which I can see from my window on a good day (12 miles away at sea). I am vacating the area during the November monsoon, as I did last year and it rained almost non stop for three weeks, causing flooding and loss of lives from fishing boats from Surathani. It rained here non stop for two weeks the last week in September and first in October this year- since then the weather and sea have been perfect. The full moon at the end of October usually sees the onset of the monsoon for about 4 to 8 weeks.

Cheers, Brit

Hello Brit

Thank you so much for your reply. You've confirmed my worst fears...what i expected.

Where would you recommend for good 'beach' weather...phi phi/lanta/phuket/?

Or anywhere else you can recommend that is unspoilt...not too full on but with a bit of life about it.

Thank you once again.

James
