Can anyone help me. I shall be visiting Perth for a couple of weeks from the 1st November this year and I shall be staying downtown for a couple of nights. I then propose hiring a car and seeing some of WA. The question is which way to go?....North to Monkey Mia or South to Margaret River & Albany?........................Can you help. Any tips or suggestions would be most welcome?

Cheers!

Hi Brit, I havent actually been to Western Australia but having lived in Oz up until last year and working as a travel consultant I have sent many of my clients. It really depends on what you want to do and see because each directions offer a very different holiday. Heading north is much larger distance to cover and you will be driving long distances with some very barren landscapes but admitedly very untouched and you can see some of the amazing pinnacles desert, and some of the most spectacular coastline. heading south can be done in relatively reasonable time, the margaret river region can actually be driven in just a few hours to a day but i obviously recommend the latter at least so as to stop of at other points of interest along the way. If you were to head south though you should really head all the way down to albany, the margaret river region has some world renowned wineries and lovely beaches but a lot of them can be quite rough - very popular with surfers, but heading further south i believe there are some lovely more protected beaches. Tough decision though WA is such a big place and has so much to offer.

Hope this helps and hasnt just made the decision harder for you.

Aimee

Have you booked your Perth accommodation. I can recommend the Duke's Apartments. Have a look at http://www.dukesapartments.com/ . We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment on Hay St, walking distance to the City. as there were 4 of us it was great value at $140 a night. It was all nearly new andlovely and clean. It even had a pool.

Also worth trying a last minute site I found with some good deals in WA at http://hotelhome.biz/

Cheers.
