Sri Lanka hotels - Post tsunami update.

Like most countries affected by the rare occurrence but utter devastation caused by a tsunami, Sri Lanka is anxious to stress, that the vast majority of its tourist attractions and accommodations are completely unaffected by the tsunami. Obviously, they are anxious not to lose potential tourists and indeed undermine their resurrecting economy.

My reports on Colombo – (really about Sri Lanka generally); and Trincomalee in particular, mention coastal areas to the South and East of the country. These coastal areas are at the moment best avoided. Whilst the capital city of Colombo and the whole of the interior including the beautiful Hill Country and World Heritage Sites like Anuradhapura and Sigiriya are completely unaffected.

For up-to-date travel information – check your own government’s foreign office tourist travel advice and the Sri Lanka Tourist Boards website.
