Hi there, i am a beijing local person, young guy ,but have spend 25 years to see the great changes in beijing , in my opinion ,beijing is not a suitable place for you to enjoy the life ,cause crowded people and so much pressures but as the most important political center with good economy, this city could also supply much more opportunities.oh, if you are a fan of chinese culture ,beijing should be the first choice

I've never lived in China but visited Shanghai, Beijing, Xian and Hong Kong. For mainland china I enjoyed Beijing more than Shanghai. I found Shanghai more polluted, very busy, with lots of people on the go day and night. Beijing is a better tourist location and if you have a choice of only one city to visit I would suggest Beijing. But if I was ever considering living there I would have to live in Hong Kong. It is so compact that makes it more appealing to me.

The best and clean city to live is Dalian in north east of China.

If I had to choose a city to live in in China (based on my travels), I'd choose Shanghai, although Beijing comes in a close second.
