I am planning a trip to Southeast Asia in February 2010. I have a 2 week vacation. I will be going to Bangkok for sure as I have to be there for some friends wedding. I would like some help planning the trip. Should I spend 2 weeks in Thailand or should I go to to Thailand and another country? I am thinking of Vietnam or Cambodia. I have never been to Asia and I would prefer to see more than one country.

It's a personal choice you could easily spend 2 weeks in Thailand doing Bangkok, up into the north then the beaches of Koh Samui & Koh Thao. But as you are keen on doing more than one country I would suggest either Laos; it's easy to get there from Bangkok and as yet not over run with tourists Luang Prabang has loads of temples and some great side trips like the Kuang Si waterfalls & Pak Ou caves. If you love historic sites then Cambodia would be the pick head straight to Siem Reap it's a great travellers town good accomm & restaurants and easy to get around, Angkor Wat is mindblowing , the Bayon, Angkor Thom the list goes on. Vietnam is such a long narrow country it needs more time so I would do that next time.
Check out my reports on both Cambodia(Siem Reap & Phnom Penh) & Laos(Luang Prabang & Siem Reap) plus many others.
Hope this helps!
