I'm going to India in September 2005 and couldn't find a soul to travel with me. I've been to lots of European destinations solo, but am hesitant to go it alone in Delhi. Should I find a guide immediately upon arrivel and latch onto him as if my life depended on it? As a female, I wonder if I am about to embark on a huge mistake.

well i am from varanasi ,and wanna tell u few things about varanasi, and delhi too.

dont beleive on the local rickshaw walas and plan your journey well in advance ,that is what all you want to see there, there are many places at varanasi ,like ganga ghats, temples, old buildings ,narrow roads..etc

there are many educated people you can ask ,and remember if you have any doubt ,ask as many people as possible to make confirm.

delhi is not a problem .

if u want any thing in detail ,you can write to me

cheers

ravi

Hi.

I have been to Delhi several times, it is not that scary as it seems. Just make sure you have everything planned. If you do need any guidance with the plan.. feel free to email/contact me. I have quite a few friends in Delhi who might be able to help you too.

Look at the following website for hotels in Delhi. http://www.delhi-hotel.net/

You could get a lot of help/guidance from the hotels once you check in there too. Just pick a Good rated hotel and there are great chances you may find a travel partner too.

Varanasi is more like a religious center.. very old city..I will look around and see if I can find anybody to help you in Varanasi too.

Wish you a safe and wonderful journey.
