Hi,

Can anyone tell me what sort of temperatures i can expect when i visit Bromo. Also what sort of clothes i should be taking.

I am travelling as light as possible, as i trek across Java and Bali, but im a little concerned when it comes to Bromo.

I am used to the cold (living in the UK :P) but I know that it will be different as the air will be thin.

Any help will be most appreciated.

Hi googlybear,

Bromo is absolutely fabulous. It is slightly colder, but still hot for us, westerneres. Indonesian people will tell you that it is VERY cold. It isn't. It is also very easy to reach as there are wooden stairs going up to the crater. Its altitude is 2329m and if you go in the morning to see the sun rise (together with a crowd of tourists) it is chilly, but if you go during the day it is hot.

I always bring a rainproof jacket (which can be folded really small) It keeps the wind out and the rain, because also in the dry season there is the ocassional tropical downpour in Java.

I agree with above poster. Not so cold. I was there in 2000 May.

Left quite early from the GH like 5:00am or so. Walked by ourselves without guide to Bromo's rim. There is a staircase that leads up to the rim.

I wore long pants and a long sleeved shirt. Once the sun comes up it really warms. Have Fun
