Hello everyone,

I'm planning a trip to Tokyo and was just wondering if anyone had ever stayed in a capsule hotel? I won't be spending my entire week in on, I just wanted to figure out if it is worth experiencing one night?

Any comments will be helpful.

Thanks

I have stayed in a capsule. Good experience worth trying. Make sure you pick one that is clean. Note that salary men that miss their last train home may come and stay later in the evening and they may be intoxicated and a bit noisy! But that is part of the experience! Good luck

Hi Amanda,
If I were travelling solo I would definately go for it.
We had a stopover and opted to stay at Narita at the Novotel & travel in to the city by train - easy to do plus once you have a day pass you can go around the main loop that makes up Tokyo until your heart is content.
Narita town is worth visiting if you do stay there lot's of traditional houses & a gorgeous temple.
You will love Japan we did!
Cheers,
Kerrie

Thank you both for your comments. I actually tried the capsule hotel for one night and it was a really good experience. I'm really glad I did it, but unless I really need to save on money, probably wouldn't do it again. It was very clean and safe, and this particular one has a separate floor for women (I put the details in a travel tip).

I would recommend anyone traveling to Japan to experience one as well as a Ryokan.

But Japan is a really wonderful place to visit, yet again I would recommend it as it is so easy to navigate, with friendly people and lots of history.

Amanda
