Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone has any special advice on Thailand/Malaysia of what to do and not do. Does anyone know a good company to dive with in Koh Tao?

Thank you!

/Jen

There are numerous things to do in Thailand! Diving around Koh Tao is very good. I try to get off the much trampled tourist track when i can but that can be quite hard in Thailand. Try taking a train along the Death Railway from Bangkok to Nam Tok. The north around Chiang Mai is great for trekking and checking out some of the hilltribe villages. A visit to Mae Hong Son is also worthwhile.

Check out some of my pictures - they may help to give a visual flavour of what is on offer.

Happy travels.

Enjoy it while you can!

I was in Koh Tao in May and the diving was good.

We stayed and dived with Ban's Dive Resort.

A professional operation without that die hard dive element you get with some companies. Their prices were competetive and equipment good.

They are right in the centre of the main strip so handy to all the restaurants along the beach.

Accommodation was also good value for the price with the rooms being really clean and set around a beautiful garden.

The main office girl is a bit of a princess but is alright when she mellows out a little.

Their details are www.amazingkohtao.com, bans@amazingkohtao.com

We paid 900 baht per dive for 2 dives (approx $25US I think) and 1500 per night for a double room wiuth aircon and hot water, there were cheaper room avail for less and more expensive rooms for 3000 baht.

Stay away from the Sunset Buri Resort (they don't do diving) as we were recommended to it and it was one of the worst places we have ever stayed.

Hope this helps.

If malaysia is your destination in the rainy season (dec-febr) you can still dive at the west coast. Hardly monsoon here. Check:

http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/scuba-diving-Malaysia.html for details about diving (at actually one of the very few good spots) at the Malaysia west coast.

Pangkor in West Malaysia is for sure one of the lesser known and more beautiful island. www.pulau-pangkor.co-m
