Katoomba

Katoomba is a town in the Blue Mountains and is located about 100 KM West of Sydney and rises to just over 1000m above sea level. One of the iconic features of Katoomba is the spectacular Three Sisters at Echo Point. This amazing rock formation, overlooking the Jamison Valley is typical of the surrounding rock walls through the valley. The character of the Three Sisters changes throughout the day as the sunlight striking the rock brings out changes in colours. The Three Sisters is floodlit at night providing a contrast against the black background of the night sky. The name Katoomba comes from a derivative of the Aboriginal word ‘Kedumba’ meaning “shiny, falling water”. [edit text] [editors]
