Apollo Bay is a picturesque fishing town with a long curving beach and is the centre of a rich dairying and fishing area. A popular summer beach resort the with a mountainous backdrop providing a beautiful contrast to the white-sand beaches. Historically, the place was so named after the schooner Apollo which carried wool from Port Fairy to Melbourne in the 1840s.

a visit to the Old Cable Station Museum to view the relics from the shipwrecks; to the Mariner’s Lookout for magnificent coastal views;
