I'm trying to plan a backpacking trip through regions of Africa and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what areas to go to, some sources to look at, etc etc. I'm really interested in getting a view of the several difference landscapes, cultures, and everything that africa has to offer. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated

Hi there!

I just come back from Africa.

I came back one month ago and I was crossing Africa from Cape Town to Cairo so maybe I can help you.

Africa is huge so your journey probably depends on how long you want to stay travelling.

Diferent landscapes could mean:

Deserts like the Sahara in Egypt or Sudan, or in Namibia for the Kalahari desert to see the great dunes at Sesriem.

Sabana in Tanzania including the best (Is just my opinion!) national parks.

Jungle landscapes are amazing in Uganada (Bwindi National park) or in Rwanda (Volcanoes national park) ... with the famous mountain gorillas.

Mountains landscape, Kilimanjaro, Mt. Meru, Mt. Kenya or the Simien mountains in Ethiopia.

Volcanoe landscape at the Oldoinyo Lengai, Tanzania.

Lakes landscape at Malawi lake or Victoria Lake.

Falls at Victoria falls or Nile falls in Ethiopia.

Delta landscape at the Okavango delta in Botswana.

Islands like Zanzibar (Tanzania) or Lamu (Kenya). And the best beaches too!!

But Africa have several other places to see amazing landscapes that I´m probably forgotting now! ;)

Hope it helps!

Dani!
