Travel guide to Brugge

The core of the historic centre of Brugge (eng. Bruges) is small and easily navigated by foot. Although many opt for horse drawn carts (led mainly by women) to see the town or for canal rides on rather crowded boats. All sound like very pleasant ways to see the city, perhaps - if a bit cliche. It is a lovely medieval place that dazzles with a great combination of centuries old mansions, palaces, churches and small houses, and the little canals, and the narrow cobble-stone alleys. The city boasts Belgium's oldest townhall and most recognisable siege tower. Also, there is a church where one can see a few drops of Jesus Christ's blood! Brugge has a good number restaurants and cafes serving rather good food (shame about the service though - patience is crucial). The city is well connected by rail with the rest of the country, and the train to/from Brussels takes just under an hour. [edit text]  [editors]
