information about mexico  Isla MujeresMexico, Quintana Roo
The grave of Fermin Antonio Mundaca de Marechaja, who was a 19th century slave trader and probably not a pirate at all. The inscription on the grave translates as ' As you are now, so once was I. As I am now, so you will be'. He came to the island and fell in love with a local woman, La Triguena, who he built the Hacienda Mundaca in the centre of the island for. Unfortunately she was not impressed and married somebody else. You can visit the ruins of the hacienda, but there is not much more than a few ruins left and a rather distressing animal park.
